Announcements / Ranks/Membergroups

I wanted to set up something like we had on TRoU, where we had people make ranks with custom icons, names and colours and then vote on maybe 15 or so that we liked. Then people could request whatever rank they wanted.

That's my idea, but maybe somebody else has a better one. Discuss?

Let's face it, Dogcider is a terrible name.

Any and all suggestions for a less terrible forum name would be greatly appreciated. Then we can have a poll or something once we have a few names that people like. Discuss.

Announcements / Purpose of this board

Laying it out so there no confusion for the time being. This is an all-purpose support board meant for forum announcements, community discussion, tech support and all other forum-related things. The ability to create threads in this board is limited to staff for the time being, but anybody can reply to an open topic.

An official suggestions thread and bug reporting thread have been provided, and there will probably be a few more to come later.

Also the skin thread, in which the entire community is encouraged to offer their input in picking a default skin for the forums.

So yeah. Have at it.

The default skin is the face of the forum. It's the first taste of the community to new users and can make a pretty profound impact. Even if you choose not to use whatever the default ends up being, it becomes a pretty important part of the forum's identity.

This is the SMF theme site. Everybody should have a peek through and offer up some input as to what they would like to be our default skin. We're taking suggestions for secondary skins as well, but the most important thing right now is that we pick a default that most people are comfortable with.

Most things about a skin can be changed, such as navigation and reply buttons, the banner, and many other things. We'll most certainly make whatever we choose our own, but the first step is to choose something to work with. We can't really get started on a banner or ranks or much else until we get this out of the way. Our version of SMF is version 2.0, so make sure the skins you suggest are compatible.

Announcements / Suggestions thread

This is the thread to suggest ideas for the forum, new features, discuss forum politics and all the like. If we decide that a particular suggestion warrants a discussion thread of its own, we'll make one.

This is the SMF mod site, if you're interested in possible features that we could implement. Just make sure that before you suggest a mod, it's compatible with SMF version 2.0.

Skins and themes are here. Again, make sure that they're compatible.

As for everything else, the sky is the limit. It's strongly encouraged to share if you feel you have an idea of what's good for the community. Even if you're unsure, it doesn't hurt one bit to start a conversation.

If you notice something is broken, you're getting an error of some sort or a particular feature isn't working properly, this is the place to post about it. Please, no individual threads about broken things.

Report the problem with as much detail as you possibly can so that we can deal with it as quickly and effectively as possible.
